Sheet piling: reliable excavation support

Sheet piling is a proven method for supporting excavations and stabilising ground. It’s widely used in both temporary and permanent works, from deep basements and underground car parks to marine structures and infrastructure projects.

Rapid installation

Sheet piles can be installed quickly with minimal site preparation, helping to keep programmes on track, especially in time-sensitive environments.

Steel sheet piles can often be extracted and reused, making them a cost-effective and sustainable option for temporary works.

Because they’re installed vertically and require little footprint, sheet piles are ideal for constrained urban or infrastructure sites.

Advanced installation process

Our installation process uses modern rigs equipped with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) instrumentation. This technology monitors key parameters such as pile depth, penetration rate, drill resistance, concreting pressure, and extraction rate, which allows for efficient control throughout the installation process.

Quality assurance

We design every solution to suit your ground conditions, load requirements, and access limitations. Whether it’s a temporary cofferdam or a permanent retaining wall, your sheet piling is cut and installed to exact spec.

We apply the same rigorous health and safety protocols across all piling operations. Our crews are fully trained, our rigs are safety-checked before every deployment, and our site procedures are backed by leading industry accreditations.

Steel sheet piles are recyclable and can be reused across projects. Our low-waste, low-impact methods help reduce your project’s environmental footprint. Beyond our manufacturing processes, we’re committed to supporting all areas of sustainability through dedicated initiatives such as local charity support and the switch to electric vehicles.

Frequently asked questions about sheet piling

Can’t find the answer to your question? Get in Touch with our expert team.

Sheet piling is used in a wide variety of construction and infrastructure applications. It’s commonly used for temporary excavation support, permanent retaining walls, embankment stabilisation, marine structures like seawalls and quays, and to form cut-off barriers to control groundwater. You’ll also find sheet piles in the foundations of basements, underground car parks, pump houses, and more.

Sheet piles are driven into the ground using vibratory hammers, hydraulic presses or impact hammers – depending on the site conditions. They interlock to form a continuous wall that provides earth or water retention. We choose the installation method based on site-specific noise and vibration limits, and ground type. Once in place, sheet piles can be tied back, anchored or capped as required for structural performance.

Sheet piles offer fast installation, minimal site footprint, and excellent strength. They’re ideal in tight spaces and can often be reused, which adds sustainability and value. Their interlocking design provides effective groundwater control and soil retention, making them a practical choice for many structural and civil engineering projects.

With over 25 years of piling expertise, Green Piling delivers solutions backed by in-house design, expert installation teams, and a strong focus on safety and quality. Our rigs and equipment are purpose-built for efficient steel piling in challenging environments. Find Out More about us here.
