Project Brief
Steel tubular piles were chosen for the works as they can provide high load capacities whilst successfully penetrating the shallow and sloping rock head profile. High energy accelerated hammers were needed to ensure sufficient penetration would be achieved into the sandstone to maintain pile stability. As piling proceeds the trimming of the piles were carried out to their final cut off level using flame cutting equipment removing the risk of HAV.
