Graduate Civil Engineer – Housing Division

Role overview

We are seeking a motivated Graduate Civil Engineer to join our Housing Division, supporting the delivery of foundation and ground engineering solutions for residential developments across the UK.

This is a broad, hands-on role offering exposure to design, estimating and contract engineering, providing an excellent platform for professional development within a growing and technically progressive business. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers and contracts managers, the successful candidate will gain end-to-end experience across the project lifecycle — from early design and tender stage through to construction and delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and detailing of foundation solutions, including piling and precast ground beam systems
  • Support the preparation of tender designs, technical proposals and cost estimates
  • Contribute to contract engineering activities, including design development, technical queries and site support
  • Interpret geotechnical information, structural drawings and specifications
  • Liaise with internal teams including estimating, design, commercial and operations
  • Support value engineering, buildability reviews and programme planning
  • Assist with production of technical documentation, drawings and schedules
  • Develop an understanding of relevant standards, regulations and housebuilder requirements

What we’re looking for

  • A degree in Civil Engineering (or a closely related discipline)
  • Strong technical curiosity and a willingness to learn across both engineering and commercial functions
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail
  • Competent IT skills (Excel essential; AutoCAD exposure beneficial)
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable (but not essential)

  • A placement year or graduate experience within civil engineering, groundworks or construction
  • Exposure to residential development or foundation engineering
  • Awareness of piling, ground beams or precast concrete systems

What we offer

  • A structured graduate role with real responsibility and technical breadth
  • Exposure to design, estimating and live project delivery, not just one discipline
  • Support and mentoring from experienced engineers and senior leaders
  • Clear development pathway within a growing Housing Division
  • Competitive salary (dependent on experience) and long-term career progression
  • 26 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays
  • Westfield Health Scheme
  • Death in Service Benefit
  • Holiday Bonus Scheme after 5 years Service

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • Free parking
  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • On-site parking

Work Location: Hybrid remote working considered after successful probation period
