Green Piling supplied and installed 457mm diameter re-claimed steel tubular piles to form part of the foundations for a new architectural footbridge in Kew Gardens.

The installation was carried out over the drained lake which was constructed in the Victorian era. Protection of roads, services and unique trees in the gardens were extremely important, and for this reason steel tubes were chosen over concrete as the installation of steel tubes would minimise the environmental impacts of the construction and achieve the Architects criteria of being less visually obtrusive than bulky concrete bases.

The site team had to negotiate narrow gates, soft tarmac footpaths, existing services and avoid damaging the historic trees, shrubs and other plants in order to gain access to the lake crossing site.
